In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
The Father and the Holy Spirit are clearly present at creation in Genesis 1. The Son is, as we should expect, present but veiled. John, as he opens his gospel, tells us plainly that Christ was there. But more than that, both Paul and John use “the beginning” as a title for Christ. In Colossians 1, Paul says, “And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.” And John in Revelation 21 records the words of Christ, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”
So, a re-reading of Genesis would give
In Christ, God created the heavens and the earth… And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Which is just what John says
He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made
